Common Name: Abelia 
 
Habit:  Abelia is a busy shrub with a compact, dense habit. Small oval leaves begin a bright yellow with a green centre in spring and a golden yellow with deep green in summer. Over Autumn it turns bright orange and fiery red. It can reach a height of around 70cm and 1 meter wide.
Flowers: Blooms appear in late spring and stay until the end of Autumn. Flowers are tiny white bells with just a hint of pink, they appear in clusters all over the plant. Behind the flower clusters form bronze bracts which remain after the flowers are finished giving the impression of extended flowering.
Care:  Abelia can grow in almost any soil but is best in a light sandy type. Choose a sunny, sheltered position although it does do fine in semi to shaded positions. It is drought tolerant but water until established and in particularly dry summers. Not a particularly frost hardy plant it will need protection from harsh winters. Prune as required to keep the plant tidy or to maintain a low hedge shape.

طبيعة النبتة: تتميز أوراقها بشكلها البيضوي وألوانها الجذابة حيث تمزج بين اللون الأصفر والأخضر. يتحول لون الأوراق في فصل الخريف إلى اللون البرتقالي والأحمر.
طبيعة الزهرة: تظهر الأزهار في اّخر فصل الربيع لنهاية فصل الخريف. تظهر أوراق تتميز باللون البرونزي حول الزهرة مما يجعلها تضفي على الزهرة شكل جميلا. 
العناية: تفضل المناطق المحمية التي تتعرض للكثير من أشعة الشمس. يمكن زراعتها في أي نوع تربة. تتحمل الجفاف ولا تتحمل الإنجماد.
