Common Name: Box Elder, Japanese Maple
 
Habit: Native to north America this species of Maple is a medium sized tree reaching up to 15m tall.  Leaves are compound with between 3 and 5 opposite leaflets, each one serrated along the edges. In the Autumn these attractive mid-green leaves turn vibrant shades of red and brown before dropping.
Flowers: In spring long clusters of yellow green flowers droop down.
Care:  Box Elder will grow in most soil conditions although it does better in organic rich soil, best autumn colour is caused by acidic soil.  Locate in a part shade position, especially in warmer climates. Once established this tree is drought and frost tolerant.

طبيعة النبتة: قد يصل طولها ل15م. تتميز أوراقها بشكلها وبلونها الذي يتحول في فصل الخريف لدرجات مختلفة من اللون الأحمر والبني.
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر ورودا تمزج بين اللون الأخضر والأصفر في فصل الربيع.
العناية: تفضل المناطق التي تتعرض لبعض الظل. عند نمو الشجرة يمكنها تحمل الجفاف والإنجماد.
