Common Name: Ponytail Palm
 
Habit: Native to eastern Mexico, outdoors it can reach up to 5 meters tall. It has a single palm like stem with a noticeable expanded base which stores water. At the top of the stem are terminal tufts of strap shaped, leathery leaves which hang down.
Flowers: Once the plant reaches 10 years of age pannicles of small white flowers can appear.
Care: The ponytail palm is hardy to -5 degC and is drought tolerant. Soil must be well drained and care must be taken not to overwater. During summer water once a week and add a general fertiliser in spring and summer. Locate in full sun or light shade, this slow growing plant needs bright light to do well.

طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر بعد أن يصبح عمرها 10 سنين ورودا بيضاء صغيرة.
العناية: تعتبر من النباتات التي تتحمل درجات الحرارة المختلفة والتي تتحمل الجفاف. يكفي أن تسقى في فصل الصيف مرة بالأسبوع. تفضل الأماكن التي تحصل على الكثير من الشمس وبعض الظل.
