Common Name:  Japanese Barberry Admiration
 
Habit: Native to Japan and eastern Asia, the purple barberry is a compact dwarf shrub perfect for small gardens.The stems which bear spines reach up to 60cm tall and wide. It has broadly oval coral red leaves with a thin yellow trim, deepening in Autumn.
Flowers:  In mid to late Spring tiny, scented, pale yellow flowers appear though they are overshadowed by the vibrant foliage. Following the flowers are bright red, oval berries which are bird attracting.
Care: Barberry plants are drought tolerant and need an average dry to medium, well drained soil.  Locate in a full sun to part shade position and prune just before the growing season to maintain the plants shape.

طبيعة النبتة:  تملك أغصانها بعض الشوك. قد يصل طولها وعرضها ل60سم. تعرف بكثرة أوراقها وتعتبر من النباتات المقزمة.
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر في اّخر فصل الربيع ورودا صغيرة تملك رائحة وتتميز بلونها الأصفر ثم تتحول لحبوب حمراء تجذب الطيور.
العناية: تعرف بتحملها للجفاف. تفضل المناطق التي تتعرض لأشعة الشمس وبعض الظل. يفضل تقليمها قبل موسم نموها للتحكم في شكلها.
