Common Name: Star Flower
 
Habit: A Middle eastern native, Borage has hairy, oval leaves reaching up to 15cm long.  The plant reaches up to 1 meter high and has a bushy habit to half a meter wide. The leaves have a flavour like cucumber and new growth is often used for tea.
Flowers:  Late spring through Summer flowering, the blooms are bright blue stars which are a bright spot in salads or as candied flowers for desserts. Deadheading will prevent the plant from seeding and going into decline.
Care: Borage is an annual but it self seeds very well which ensures more plants each year. It will grow almost anywhere in well drained soil with average organic matter. Grow in full sun to part shade, more direct sun will produce more flowers and a stockier plant.

طبيعة النبتة: تتميز بلون أوراقها المائل للفضي والذي يبدو مكسوا بشعيرات صغيرة. قد يصل طولها لمتر وعرضها لنصف متر. يمكن صنع الشاي من الأوراق الجديدة.
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر في أخر الربيع والصيف وتشتهر بجمال ورودها الزرقاء التي تستخدم في الطهي.
العناية: تعتبر من الحوليات ولكن بذورها تضمن أن تظهر النبتة مرة أخرى. تفضل أن تزرع في المناطق المشمسة.
