Common Name:  Pepper
 
Habit: Capsicum is a small bushy plant  with dark green ovate leaves, growing up to 40cm high, they are technically perennials but are usually treated as Annuals. 
Flowers:  Small white, cream or purple flowers appear at leaf axils and develop into hollow fruits full of seeds. The fruit can be eaten raw in salads or cooked into soups and stews.
Care:   Soil needs to be well draineed and prepared with compost, if necessary use raised garden beds to aid drainage. Capsicums need full sun and regular fertilising, they can be grown in large pots but it is easier to grow them in a garden bed. Feed regularly and if the fruit is too heavy for the plant you may need to stake them being very careful to keep clear of the roots.
