Common Name: Dwarf Natal plum bush
 
Habit:  Native to South Africa, Carissa Dwarf is a ground cover with dark green, glossy foliage evergreen in most locations. Growing up to only 45cm tall it makes an excellent low hedge or in planter.  Locate away from walkways and children’s play areas as this plant has thick forked thorns. 
Flowers: In the warmer months, the plant is scattered with white flowers shaped like stars. The blooms are 2 inches across with thick waxy petals and an orange blossom scent which is stronger at night. Following the start of blooming bright red edible fruit appear, these are edible, taste like cranberries and great for jam.
Care: Full sun is required for good flowers and fruit, however afternoon shade especially during the heat of summer is beneficial.  Choose any well drained soil preferably sandy, Carissa can handle strong winds, salty soil/sea spray. Great in pots and tubs, also does very well in rockeries and borders.

طبيعة الزهرة: تمتلأ النبتة بورودا بيضاء على شكل نجمة في في الأشهر الدافئة من السنة.  تمتلك رائحة مماثلة لرائحة البرتقال ولكنها تكون أقوى في المساء. تتحول الورود لفاكهة قابلة للأكل ذات لون أحمر فاتح. 
العناية: تفضل المناطق التي تتعرض للكثير من أشعة الشمس. تفضل بعض الظل في المناطق التي تتعرض لدرجات حرارة عالية. يمكنها تحمل الرياح القوية.
