Common Name: Pigface
 
Habit: Small fleshy leaves, growing on long trailing stems reaching up to 2 meters long and a height of 20cm.
Flowers: In spring and autumn vibrant pink flowers appear similar to daisies, followed by deep red edible fruits.
Care: Suiting most soil types, Carpobrotus tolerates light frost, drought, humidity and salt. Grow in full sun and allow the soil to dry out between watering once the plant is established.
Freezing temperatures will cause the plant to die back but it should regrow in spring. Another option is to grow in containers and overwinter indoors, simply bring inside, water deeply and cut back before allowing it to dry completely. Resume watering in when the weather warms up and slowly introduce the plant to full sun. Pinch out new growth or lightly prune to encourage fuller growth and more blooms.
