Common Name: Indian Bean Tree
 
Habit: Native to the south eastern United States, the Catalpa is slow growing, deciduous tree reaching up to 6 meters.  It has a short, thick trunk supporting long straggling branches which bear large heart shaped leaves in a bright green which are fully grown by the time the flowers emerge. 
Flowers: In late summer showy, bell shaped flowers appear in clusters. The blooms are white and marked with orange or purple, they are followed by a long thin seed pod.
Care: Soil needs to be moist, hummus rich and well drained with a layer of mulch to conserve moisture. It prefers a full sun location, regular watering and when the plant is young keep it protected from frost. 
Garden use:  Summer shade allowing light through in winter.

طبيعة النبتة: تعرف ببطىء نموها. قد يصل طولها ل6م. يعرف الجذع بقصره وسمكه. تعرف أوراقها بلونها الأخضر الفاتح. 
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر في فصل الصيف وتتميز أزهارها بشكلها الشبيه بالجرس وألوانها الأبيض والبرتقالي والبنفسجي.
العناية: تفضل المناطق التي تتعرض للكثير من أشعة الشمس. تفضل أن تزرع في منطقة محمية في المناطق التي تتعرض للإنجماد.
إستخداماتها في الحديقة: في المناطق التي تتعرض للظل ولكن تتعرض للضوء في فصل الشتاء.
