Common Name: Chives
 
Habit: Chives are a grass-like Herb with thin, hollow leaves standing up from the base of the plant. It is taller than it is wide being 60cm tall and 30cm wide.
Flowers: The flowers appear on the end of as long stalk, they look like fluffy little purple balls and are bee attracting. Remove before they seed to prevent the plant spreading and taking over.
Care: Plant into fertile, well drained soil, incorporating a little organic fertiliser or healthy compost taking care not to over fertilise so as to not impact the flavour. Plant in early spring and water consistently during the growing season as long as the soil is well draining. Chives also do very well in containers or on a sunny windowsill, they like full sun although any location is fine provided the plant gets at least 6 hours of sun per day.  For the winter cut back to ground level as the plant will regrow for spring.

طبيعة الزهرة: تظهر الوردة في نهاية الساق ولكن يجب إزالتها قبل إنتجاها للبذور لأن ذلك يساعد على إنتشار النبتة بشكل سريع وصعب التحكم به.
العناية: يمكن زراعتها في أي مكان ولكنها تفضل المناطق المشمسة. يمكن زراعتها في الأرض أو الأحواض الصغيرة.
