Common Name: Silk Cotton Tree
 
Habit: Native to Asia this deciduous tree is straight and tall reaching up to 20 meters high. The leaves are palmate with 6 or 8 leaflets coming from a central point. The trunk has spines along it especially in young trees.
Flowers: In spring pink, cup shaped flowers appear at the ends of branches before the leaves return.  After the flowers 15mm long, oval black or grey seedpods appear full of cotton. 
Care: Chorisia likes a rich, deep, well drained soil and full sun. It prefers a distinct dry season and does not like extreme cold below -3 degC.

طبيعة النبتة: تتساقط أوراقها في بعض فصول السنة. قد يصل طولها ل20م. تنمو بعد الأشواك على الجذع خصوصا على الأشجار الصغيرة.
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر في فصل الربيع زهورا وردية صغيرة تنمو على أطراف الأغصان قبل نمو الأوراق. تتحول الزهور لحبوب سوداء أو فضية مليئة بالقطن.
العناية: تفضل الأماكن التي تتعرض للكثير من أشعة الشمس. لا تفضل المناطق التي تتعرض لدرجات حرارة منخفضة.
