Common Name: Grapefruit
 
Habit: The grapefruit plant originates in Barbados from an accidentally cross of an orange and a pomelo or Bomelay plant. This evergreen tree grows up to 6m tall, the leaves are glossy, dark green and up to 15cm long.
Flowers:  The flowers are white, have 4 petals and are around 5cm long. The fruit is large and orange with a tart citrus flavour.
Care: After planting water every few days for the first two weeks then water deeply once a week except for particularly dry periods when you'll need to water more often.  Add a light fertiliser every month or two and only prune to remove dead or damaged limbs. Protection is needed for areas where there is frost as grapefruit do not like to freeze.

طبيعة النبتة: دائمة الإخضرار. يعتبر طعمها مزيجا من طعم البرتقال والبوملي. قد يصل طولها ل6م. يتميز ورقها بلونه الأخضر الغامق.
طبيعة الزهرة: تتميز ورودها بلونها الأبيض الذي يتحول لفاكهة تشبه البرتقال.
العناية: لا تحب الطقس البارد لذلك يجب زراعتها في منطقة محمية في المناطق الباردة. إزالة الأغصان الميتة تساعدها على النمو.
