Common Name: Mexican Firebush
 
Habit: Native to the American subtropics,  Hamelia is a fast growing shrub reaching up to 2 meters tall.  The woody stems are erect and branched bearing simple copper toned leaves becoming purplish red during winter.
Flowers: From Summer through to Autumn a profusion of orange red flowers appear followed by small red fruit.
Care: Grow in average soil provided it is well drained. Part shade is fine but the best flowering comes from full sun. Mexican firebush loves heat becoming more vigorous as temperatures climb. If winters are especially cold grow this plant in a balcony container or in a hot, dry protected area of your garden. Mulch and water regularly until established, prune after flowering and once a year add a slow release fertiliser.

طبيعة النبتة: تعرف بسرعة نموها. قد يصل طولها ل2م. تتميز أوراقها بلونها الأخضر المائل للبرونزي الذي يتحول للون البنفسجي الأحمر في فصل الشتاء.
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر من فصل الصيف إلى فصل الخريف ورودا جذابة تدمج بين اللون الأحمر والبرتقالي ثم تتحول إلي حبوب حمراء.
العناية: تفضل الأماكن الذي تحصل على الكثير من اّشعة الشمس لأن ذلك يساعدها على الإزهار بشكل أفضل ولكنها تنمو جيدا في المناطق التي تحصل على بعض الظل.
