Common Name: Bloodleaf
 
Habit: Native to Brazil the bloodleaf is a soft wooded subshrub reaching up to 1 meter tall.  It has an open, loose habit with beautiful foliage in vibrant variegated red and green.
Flowers: Occasionally small greenish white flowers are produced but they are barely noticed among the heart shaped leaves. 
Care:  Soil needs to be well drained and moderately fertile. Locate in a part shade position and protect from strong winds and frosts, both of which will cause damage to the soft, brittle stems. When all risk of frost has passed prune to keep the plant compact and bushy.  If climate does not allow your plant to be in the garden it can be grown indoors. Use any good, fast draining potting soil and apply a weak liquid fertiliser during the growing season. Repot annually until mature growth is reached.

طبيعة النبتة: قد يصل طولها لمتر. تتميز أوراقها بلونها العنابي المشع الموشح باللون الأخضر. 
طبيعة الزهرة: تزهر زهورا صغيرة بيضاء مائلة للون الأخضر. ولكن لا تعتبر مهمة.
العناية: تفضل الأماكن التي تحصل على بعض الظل والمناطق المحمية من الرياح والإنجماد.
