Common Name: Lemon
Habit: Eureka lemons are native to China and are a hybrid crossed with orange or tangerine. These trees are small and bushy growing up to only 3m tall making them very good container plants.
Flowers: While the Meyer can fruit year round, generally fruiting occurs during autumn-winter. The flowers are typical white citrus blooms and the lemons are a orange/yellow colour inside and are more rounded resembling an orange.
Care: Meyer lemons are frost and heat sensitive so this needs to be taken into account. Lemons need a good deep watering once a week, more often if the weather is dry and hot.Plant where it can get at least 6hrs of good sun per day, morning sun and afternoon shade are best in hot areas. Use a citrus fertliser monthly during the growing season and not at all during the winter months. Prune as needed to remove damaged branches or to keep a tidy shape.
