Common Name: Redgum
 
Habit: Native to the temperate areas of North America this deciduous tree grows up to 21m cultivated but can reach heights of 46m in the wild. The leaves are a 5 pointed start shape similar to the Maple tree and in Autumn they colour to shades of red, yellow and purple in a spectacular display before falling for winter. 
The bark is distinctive with is corklike appearance which resembles alligator skin and is light brown with a reddish tinge.
Flowers: In spring heads of inconspicuous green flowers appear followed by distinctive spiky wooden seed capsules.
Care: Liquidambar is easy to grow in temperate climates however their large size requires the space of a big garden or a parkland. Grow in a sunny position choosing deep, fertile well drained soil that remains moist in summer.

طبيعة النبتة: قد يصل طولها ل21م. يتميز ورقه بشكله الذي يشبه النجمة ذات الزوايا الخمس. يتغير لون ورقها في فصل الخريف للون الأحمر والأصفر.
طبيعة الزهرة: تظهر زهور خضراء غير واضحة في فصل الصيف ولكنها تعتبر غير مهمة.
العناية: تفضل المناطق المشمسة وتتطلب مساحة كبيرة. مناسبة للمناخ المعتدل.
