Common Name: Saucer Magnolia
 
Habit: A Deciduous tree the saucer magnolia can get up to 9 meters, it has average growth in the first few years but slows down as the plant matures so it may take some time to reach its full height.  It is naturally bushy so requires little in the way of pruning apart from removing damage and should be done in late winter or late summer.
Flowers: Large purple flowers shaped like tulips appear in spring before the leaves and create a bright display.
Care: Magnolias prefer moist deep soil that drains well and a sunny position.
