Common Name: Moroccan Mint
Habit: Moroccan Mint is a spreading herb reaching up to 60cm tall. The serrated green leaves are small and close set. This mint is closely related to spearmint and so it's scent reflects this.
Flowers: The flowers appear in late summer and are purple and lilac in colour growing up flower spikes. However, in order to extend the harvesting season it is a good idea to pinch off the flower buds as they appear. The leaves are combined with green tea and sugar to make Moroccan Tea.
Care: Grow where the plant can get good morning sun and afternoon shade. Mint can be very invasive so it is often best to keep in a planter or pot. If growing directly into a garden bed submerge a container first to keep the plant from spreading and taking over.
Ensure soil is well drained as they do not like to be waterlogged and give a good layer of mulch. Frequent harvesting will keep the plant looking bushy and tidy
