Common Name: Black Bamboo
 
Habit:  Native to China this bamboo reaches 5m tall. The stems are green to begin and slowly turn a glossy black especially with direct sun. The abundant, lance shaped leaves are a beautiful dark green making quite a statement against the stems. 
Flowers: At irregular intervals inconspicuous feather flowerheads can appear.
Care: Bamboo grows best and fastest in full sun. Choose a slightly acidic soil, well draining and fertile.  If possible give new plants some shade for the first two weeks of growth and water weekly until the plant is established at which stage you can only water as needed depending on rainfall.
Running Bamboo can be invasive if not managed well, to control the spread you need to dig down to the rhizomes twice a year, cut and remove them.

طبيعة النبتة: قد يصل طولها ل5م. تملك السيقان اللون الأخضر ولكنها تتحول للون الأسود إذا زرعت في منطقة تتعرض للكثير من أشعة الشمس.
طبيعة الزهرة: قد تزهر ورودا تعتبر غير مهمة بشكل غير منتظم.
العناية: تفضل الأماكن التي تتعرض للكثير من اّشعة الشمس وتعتبر بأنها تنمو بشكل أسرع إذا تعرضت للكثير من أشعة الشمس. تفضل النباتات المزروعة حديثا القليل من الظل إذا أمكن.
