Common Name: Rhoeo or Moses-in-the-cradle.
 
Habit: Rhoeo has distinctive purple underside to the long green leaves that form a rosette around the base of the plant. They grow up to 30cm high and around 45cm wide.
Flowers: White flowers in boat shaped bracts appear all year around, though this plant is generally grown for its foliage.
Care: This plant is best suited to warm climates, temperatures of 5-10 deg.C will damage the plant and if it gets as cold as -6 it will die. They do not like wet conditions and the soil needs to be allowed to dry out between waterings.  When planting choose a shaded location with good drainage, if temperatures are too cold in the winters you can bring the plant indoors to protect from the cold.
